Volunteers Needed
Our
volunteer training is 42 hours long. The training is divided into
two parts -- Listening Skills including group building (24 hours)
and talks on current teen issues (18 hours).
The
Listening Skills covered include: Minimal Encouragers,
Paraphrasing, Reflecting Feelings, Intuitive Decoding, Caring
Confrontation, Problem Solving, Behavior Description, &
Neurolinguistic Programming.
Teen
issues covered include: Human sexuality, Family Life, Substance
Abuse, Eating Disorders, Dating Pressures, Self-Esteem & Crisis
Calls. Whenever possible these
subjects are presented by local professionals.

Winter 2008
Teen Helpline
Training
Our Winter 2008 training will start
on Saturday, January 12, 2008.
There will seven (7) Saturday class
sessions, Jan. 12, 19, & 26 and Feb. 2, 9, 16 & 23. One (1) missed
class can be made up and still satisfactorily complete the course. A
light lunch will be served on Jan. 12 & Feb. 23. If necessary, a
make-up class will be scheduled later.
Classes start at 8:00 AM and end
at 2:15 PM. Classes will be held at
Bethany Lutheran Church,
933 Michigan Ave., Ashtabula, OH.
The church is located behind
Washington School and next
to Wenner Field.
A $15 donation is requested to
cover the cost of training materials.
